Dr Anna Ciccarelli leads UniSA’s International and Development portfolio, which includes the Marketing & Development Unit, UniSA International and the Samstag Museum of Art.

She began her career teaching humanities, social sciences and English in secondary schools in Adelaide before moving to Sydney, where she was the Principal of a private English language college for seven years. In 1996 she became the first graduate of the University of Sydney’s Doctorate of Education.

Anna joined UniSA in 1998 as Manager of the Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences before being appointed as Director of UniSA International in 2001 and to her current position in 2004. She was the inaugural Vice President of the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA).

Anna’s professional and research interests include educational organisations (how they work, how they are managed and the challenges they pose for leaders and managers), policy and strategies in international education, internationalisation of the curriculum, transnational education and student mobility.

Among other responsibilities, she is a member of the Education Adelaide Board of Directors, a member of the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) English Language Steering Committee, and an Honorary AUQA Auditor. In 2008 she was a member of the panel for the University of Canberra’s cycle 2 audit.
