I have been working in early years mathematics education in South Australia since 1978. I have been continuously involved with curriculum development in this area and my main interest lie in the relationships between young children's informal learning and their application of mathematical concepts in problem solving through play and everyday life activities. This includes the appreciation and relevance of prior knowledge in mathematics during the first three years at school

My current teaching involves mathematics curriculum and coordinating and supervising student practicums in preschools and schools. I teach both internal and external students and participate in the BECE offshore program. I have recently been involved in an Ausaid project in PNG and the BEAM Project in Mindanao, Philippines.

I collaborate in teaching an M.Ed course and co supervise students whose research topics at M. Ed and Ph.D levels relate to mathematics learning and teaching in Early Childhood years Birth to eight.
