Claire Woods is Professor,Communication and Writing. She is Director of International Programs for the School of Communication.
Claire is a member of the C3, Communication and Creative Cultures Research Group formerly known as the Centre for Professional and Public Communication. The Group aims to provide quality research and consultancy in communication, including professional and creative writing and communication, media and culture, electronic communication and multimedia, language and literary practices in business,education, government, and community contexts. She is the leader of the research concentration within C3 -Cultures of Conflict. This group has a particular focus on the Writing/s of War.
Claire is Teaching Team leader in Professional and Creative Writing and Communication. The team is responsible for the BA (Professional and Creative Communication - which will be renamed BA( Writing and Creative Communication) in 2008.The Teaching Team won a 1999 Supported Academic Teaching Award for Excellence in University Teaching.In 2000, the team won the Australian Award for University Teaching in Humanities and the Arts. The team was joint winner of the Prime Minister' Award as University Teaching Team of the Year.

Claire is Director, International Programs for the School of Communication. These include the MA(Communication Management) taught in Malaysia and Hong Kong; and BA(Communication and Media Management) taught in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.The Bachelor of Media Arts is also taught in Singapore. Other undergraduate programs taught in Malaysia are the Bachelor of Media Arts, the Bachelor of Arts(Communication and Media Management) and the Bachelor of Journalism - all taught in conjunction with Taylors College. She teaches in the MA( Communication Management)and in the BA(Writing and Creative Communication).
Claire supervises post graduate students undertaking research degrees (Ph.D. and Doctorate of Communication) in areas related to Communication, Writing and Texts.
Claire was Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland 2004 - 2006. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (U.K.) She has been Visiting Researcher at universities in the U.S., U.K. and most recently at Roskilde University, Denmark.
