Welcome to my Web page.
My introduction to teaching here at the University has come about because of my broad background in a number of industry sectors and senior management positions.
These experiences were gathered over some 30 years working in Australia and the United States. Industry sectors covered include: Hospitality, Manufacturing, Service, Building and Construction, Pharmaceutical, Health, Food, and Information Technology
Presently (apart from spending a portion of each week here at the Uni) I am a Business Consultant providing organisations with the operational and strategic direction they are missing.
Because of the above I am able to bring real world experiences into the courses I am involved in thus, hopefully, making them more relevant to students.
"Understanding Small Business" useful website dealing with many aspects of small business
Teaching interests
- My teaching interests are principally aimed at those wishing to acquire a greater understanding of business and its associated complexities.
- This interest has evolved from my diverse business background where I have enjoyed both running my own businesses and being an employee in large multi-national corporations.
- Business is a diverse and complex environment requiring knowledge, desire and motivation to succeed. Because of this I am therefore particularly interested in Small Business, which true to its inherent traits, requires the business owner to be multi-talented.
- The Small Business Owner/Manager (SBOM) requires the ability to recognise what management and technical skills are needed for their business to operate successfully.
- The courses I am involved in offer students the opportunity to gain an overarching view of business, and they are particularly relevant to:
- - Students wishing to be SBOMs gaining an awareness of the breadth of issues facing SBOMs
- - Students wishing to consult to SBOMs identifying the various issues SBOMs face.
- - Students wanting to work in large corporations gaining a breadth of understanding not offered in specialised courses.
