Douglas L Morgan is a Bundjalung man from Southern Queensland. He is Associate Professor: Aboriginal Studies -Portfolio Leader: Research at the David Unaipon College of Indigenous Education and Research, University of South Australia. He was a former Chair of Neporendi Aboriginal Forum Inc (an Indigenous community organisation servicing southern metropolitian Adelaide and the former Coordinator of Yunggorendi Student Services at Flinders University Adelaide SA.
His primary areas of expertise are transition education - facilitating the acquisition transferable academic skills in higher education and cross-cultural and diversity training. He is a qualified tertiary teacher with eight years experience with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. Doug has completed research on Indigenous education and the factors affecting students decisions to continue or withdraw from tertiary studies at Flinders University, and was Key Adviser to the DEST projects titled 'First Year Experiences of Indigenous Students' and 'Indigenous Leadership Models in Australian Universities'. He was also Key Adviser on the 'Supporting Indigenous Students through School', an evaluation of Koorie education in Victoria.
