Frank Peddie has a broad training in the biological sciences and more than 25 years experience in teaching, applied research and consultancy in the fields of Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Food Technology, Biotechnology and Environmental Sciences. His professional career has included roles as a Medical Services Department Manager in the pharmaceutical industry, lecturer, research supervisor and project manager, industrial consultant and environmental auditor. As a consequence of his broad background and interests, he is a member of three professional societies and is well known in sections of industry and academia. Specialist interests include the development of innovative delivery techniques for pharmaceuticals, food science and quality management in the food industry, biodegradation and bioremediation, and biotechnological applications of enzymes and microbes.

Until taking a secondment to the Ian Wark Research Institute in 2004, Mr Peddie was a senior lecturer in Applied Microbiology in the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences and Assistant Director of the Centre for Molecular and Material Sciences (CMMS). He is involved with contract research and consultancy, drawing on the combined resources of the University, Industrial sponsors and State and Federal Granting Bodies. He has been instrumental in establishing a number of research and development programs in collaboration with industrial clients and staff from The Wark, CMMS and the Sansom Institute.

Frank Peddie has renewed his secondment for 2007-9 to act as Project Leader for the innovative 'Centre for Drug Formulation & Delivery' at the Sansom Institute.
