  • New theoretical directions for progressive politics with a focus on culture and subjectivity, as well as social policy, social democracy and substantive citizenship.
  • Postcolonial theoretical approaches.
  • The sociology of health and gendered dimensions of health policy.
  • Power and authoritative knowledge: the hegemony/heresy divide.
  • Critiques of expertise and professionalism.
