Joy Penman holds bachelor and master's degrees in Nursing and Pharmacy. She is currently undertaking her doctoral studies in palliative care. Joy teaches both science and nursing courses at Nursing and Rural Health Unit, Whyalla Campus. She has over twenty years teaching experience locally and abroad and many years nursing experience in various health care facilities. Joy has extensive experience in research and community service as well.
