Jun Li is a Research Fellow in Applied Centre for Structural and Synchrotron Studies ACeSSS (ACeSSS) at the University of South Australia. She has a strong background in chemical engineering and considerable expertise and experience in crystallisation and kinetics modelling. She has more than 30 publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings.
Jun Li’s research interests and projects she has worked on include acid mine drainage, chalcopyrite leaching, gibbsite crystallization, sodium aluminosilicate chemistry and crystallization, sodium diuranate crystallization, crystallization kinetics, polymer and U adsorption, copper sulphide ore flotation, mineral surface chemistry, solvent extraction and chemical purification. Her research includes both fundamental and applied interests, linking surface analytical techniques with observed chemical behaviour.
Jun Li is currently a chief investigator in the ARC-Linkage project of “Evaluation of reaction mechanisms and products in acid rock drainage treatments” (2006 – 2009) and the Ro Tinto funded project of “Rate controlling factors of chalcopyrite leaching” (2009). She led a project, sponsored by Nalco, from 2006 to 2008, examining the mechanism of crystal growth modifiers on gibbsite precipitation under industrial conditions, and participated in the Rio Tinto funded project (2007 – 2008) "The identification of surface coatings on Cu-sulphides and molybdenite, KUCC, Utah" in which she has successfully completed PCA ToF-SIMS statistical analysis of flotation interferences. She also participated in the Cytec funded project (2009) “Surface chemistry of flocculant deportment on red mud: PCA-ToFSIMS statistical distributions” and the ARC-Linkage project with Rio Tinto “The recovery of Cu from chalcopyrite-pyrite containing concentrates, ores and tailings” from 2004 to 2006.
