My current role is that of an International Student Adviser. Together with my team, I endeavour to create and nurture a responsive, positive and stimulating environment enabling international students achieve the best possible result during their studies and therefore to make UniSA a destination of choice for future overseas students.
Being a relatively recent immigrant myself, I perfectly understand the difficulties facing new arrivals, especially when they are young and without support from family and friends. In order to help them through this complex and multidisciplinary task I am currently working closely with other professional teams/groups inside and outside the university.
My extensive experience working as a policy/finance adviser, lecturer and IT professional (for government and universities in Croatia, New Zealand and Australia) gives me a solid base for insights and knowledge of better solutions for international students and staff in this demanding multicultural environment.
One of my areas of interest is to help our new students settle into the local community. In doing this I have organised various events in cooperation with local city councils (particularly – Salisbury, Port Adelaide & Enfield) where students are able to meet the community and discover what local services are available to them, especially for students who have come here with their immediate family.
