Yunmei (May) Song is a doctor in pharmaceutics and has ten years experience in research and development of drug delivery systems. Her specialist interests include the application and development of innovative technologies and novel dosage forms of drugs and in vitro/in vivo performance evaluation of the preparations. May has undertaken and completed a number of projects, including drug controlled release systems, novel taste masking technologies for oral drugs, oral drug delivery systems giving high bioavailability and improved drug stability. May also has assisted three professors in supervising postgraduates and Ph.D candidates. May has ten-years experience in managing a pharmaceutics laboratory. Her laboratory management work covered participation in the purchase of instruments and equipment, preliminary layout design of a laboratory, support and coordination of public utilities, involvement with installation, commissioning and accepetance inspection of instruments and equipment, construction of a laboratory management system, training and assessment of users and laboratory personnel, use management, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of instruments and equipment, and external services. At UniSA, May is involved with all project work undertaken in the Centre for Drug Formulation & Delivery, where state-of-the-art pilot scale pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities have been established with the assistance of the SA Government. She provides consultant advice to industry undertakes research and development projects and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Any students considering Honours, Masters or PhD projects are encouraged to visit and discuss options.

Besides, May has about ten-year experience in managing a pharmaceutics laboratory.
