Hello there - Moira here.

I am the Academic Support Officer to Dr Simon Shurville and the Business Information Management and Library and Information Management programs based at 27-29 North Terrace at the City West campus, Adelaide.

I am involved in the continual redevelopment of the programs by way of: completing relevant program documentation; program promotion via the web and advertising medias; recruitment of students and consultation with students.

Professor Koronios, Dr Shurville, various staff and myself are currently working through to finalise the ALIA Course Recognition process and will post the result to the website when completed.

Accreditation documentation for the: Australian Society of Archivists (ASA); the Records Management Association of Australasia (RMAA) and the Australian Computer society (ACS) has commenced and hoepfully will be finalised by the end of 2008.

I am the Executive Officer for the BIM/LIM Steering Committee and the BIM/LIM Program Advisory Group; involved in meetings between the relevant accrediting bodies and affiliated associations to discuss accreditation and curriculum for the program specialisations to ensure maximum benefit for students.

I am available by phone or email for potential or current students. I can respond to students questions regarding credit and course substitution and offer advice on the design of a student's program.

I am willing to answer questions that members of industry may have about the courses, how they can be involved via projects etc. So if want to know more please contact me.

The graduates of these programs will be trained for 21st Century business!

My experience in marketing and web development is extensive. I held the position of Administrative Officer: Marketing for the Division of Information Technology, Engineering and the Environment for eight years. In that role I was appointed as Division Web Liaison Officer, responsible for the redevelopment of 43 websites and maintained 14 on a regular basis. Within the marketing role I was involved in a variety of tasks. I have listed a few below: - events management - development of program and course materials - conferences - 3 month secondment - UniSA Marketing & Development Unit - 6 month secondment - Marketing Officer: Division of Health Sciences

I couldn't afford a 'sea change' so ventured from the Division Office to the School of Computer and Information Science as Administrative Support: Associate Head of School: Teaching and Learning and to the School Executive Officer for two years. Within therole I learnt the many facets of systems and policies that the School operates by. I was Minute Taker for many of the committees surrounding teaching and learning. Provided input into the School's websites by written reviews and suggested changes to ensure the School had optium viewing capacity but not all has been taken on board - you can only try.

While I was employed in this role within the School, my abilities came to the attention of the BIM Chair, Professor Paula Swatman who encouraged me to apply for my current role. It is a role that I have relished and continue to develop and expand to benefit the programs, the school and my own personal development. Dr Simon Shurville is the Program Director for the programs and is always willing to meet and discuss: industry requirements; possible research avenues; and student issues. So if you would like to speak with Simon please contact me to make an appointment.
