Paul is Director of the Information Strategy and Technology Services Unit. Prior to joining the University in 2001 Paul held senior ICT management roles at the Defence Science & Technology Organisation (DSTO) and BHP. In 1997 he was awarded the "Network World" Masters Award for his contribution to the establishment of the first high speed ATM network in Australia.
Paul has been a Director and Chair of SABRENet Ltd since its inception in September 2006. He is currently Deputy Chair of CAUDIT and member of the Australian National Data Service (ANDS) Steering Committee. Paul leads CAUDIT's benchmarking activity and is the author of the complexity index which is used by CAUDIT members to make meaningful comparisons of benchmarking data across the ANZ HE sector. He has been a member of the AARNet Advisory Committee (including as Deputy Chair 2004-2008) since 2001 and is a past faculty member of the CAUDIT-EDUCAUSE Institute (2004-2008).
