Rocco Zito is a Civil Engineer by profession. He graduated with honours from the University of South Australia in 1991. He is currently a Senior Research Fellow and deputy Director of the Transport Systems Centre at the University of South Australia.

His field of research is transport applications of GPS and the development of software and hardware tools for using GPS in a GIS environment. Recently he has been also been involved in several research projects dealing with the modelling of emissions from vehicles for environmental analysis.
