Sekhar currently teaches courses related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Transportation Planning.
Background:
Sekhar has a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Bangalore University, India, Masters Degree in Transportation Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, India and PhD from University of South Australia.
Previous Consulting role:
Sekhar worked on many urban transport consulting projects in India from 1988 to 1996 while working for RITES (A Government of India consulting company).
Previous Teaching role:
Sekhar worked as a lecturer in the department of Civil Engineering, University of Malaya (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) from 1996 to 1999 and taught transport planning, traffic engineering and GIS related subjects.
Previous Research role:
Sekhar joined the Transport Systems Centre (TSC), University of South Australia, in July 1999 as a full time PhD research scholar on a scholarship. He received PhD degree in October 2002 for his thesis titled 'Transit service area and route coverage analysis using geographic information systems'. From July 2002 to January 2003, he was working as a research Asistant and worked on few ARC research projects.
Current role:
Since January 2003 Sekhar is working as a Lecturer in this School of Natural and Built Environments(NBE)and his duties include teaching GIS and Transportation courses and working on research projects at the two research centers namely the Institute for Sustainable Systems Technologies (Transport Systems) and the Barbara Hardy Centre for Sustainable Urban Environments
