Hello, I am Valerie Aloa, Senior Lecturer in the de Lissa Institute of Early Childhood and Family Studies. My office is currently located on the Magill Campus, which is on the eastern side of Adelaide.
I have worked with the Institute since 1986 and I have had a number of years of experience working in early childhood in the United States, England and Australia. I am also currently a Moderator with the National Child Care Accreditation Council which accredits child care centres across Australia.
I have undertaken a number of projects external to the University and these include:
· National Child Care Advisory Council: Revision of Accreditation Principles Dec/Jan '98/99
· Australian Broadcasting Commission : Child Life program on Families . 1989
· City Child Care Centre Interim Management Committee 1989 and the Lady Gowrie Child Centre Management Committee 1985 - 1997.
· CSO: Western Region Action Research Project: Aggression in Preschoolers 1994
· CSO : Think tank on Policies and Programming for Special Needs Children
· AIDAB: Preschool Workshops in Fiji May 1994

Research interests
- I am currently undertaking a Ph.D (Education) at the Flinders University of South Australia. My thesis topic is Caregivers perceptions of infants in transition from home to centre based care
- My thesis in the Master of Arts in Teaching (Special Education) was titled: Effects of adult modelling on children's delayed play behaviour.
