David has been a practicing professional in Visual Communication (Graphic Design, Illustration and Visual Art for 19 years. David has been lecturing in Illustration Design at the University of South Australia since 2000 and maintains a design consultancy, Ekaada Art & Design. David has broad industry experience which includes illustration, design, exhibition, advertising, interactive media, animation, publishing and print production. David’s research and practice is ongoing.
Since July 2005 David has been the course coordinator for Illustration Design within the Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) program at the South Australian School of Art.
“Illustration Design which is a highly specialized profession that provides strong visual communication solutions to diverse professions such as education, entertainment and communication. It is an industry underpinned by self employment practices requiring high level technical skills and innovative thinking. In recent years the Illustration Design profession has experienced a renaissance primarily due to substantial shifts and consequent advancements in technology. Industry increasingly utilises communication and information systems particularly within the entertainment industries. As a consequence this has fuelled a demand for visually creative and highly self motivated specialists.”
