Luke Perraton is a research assistant at the Centre for Allied Health Evidence and works clinically as a sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapist. He graduated from La Trobe University in Melbourne in 2001 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and completed the Master of Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy program at the University of South Australia in 2008. He was the recipient of the Brooks running prize and the Marie Hammond prize for academic achievement during 2008. Luke has worked as a physiotherapist in both the private and the public sector in Melbourne, Adelaide, Cairns, Darwin and Scotland. His clinical interests relate to sports medicine and include the management of overuse injuries, running and cycling biomechanics and adventure sports. Luke’s research interests include the implementation of research evidence into clinical practice and the role of exercise in the management of mental and physical health problems. He has presented research findings at the 2008 South Australian Physiotherapy symposium and the 2009 Sports Medicine Australia national conference. In addition he currently authors the ongoing CAHE evidence translation initiative, Allied Health News in Review. Luke is a part of the review board for the Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice and is currently employed as a research assistant for Dr. Saravana Kumar’s fellowship research on whiplash associated disorders.
