Research Degree Supervisor

Roger Horn is an experienced supervisor of PhD students. His particular interests are in the physics and chemistry of interfaces between different phases, and thin liquid films in particular. This has applications in adhesion, lubrication, friction, contact charging, colloid science, biomaterials and nanotechnology. The laboratory directed by Prof Horn has specialised equipment for these studies, including a facility for measuring physical interactions between fluids and solids that is unique in the world.

In recent years two of his students have won the Ian Wark medal for their theses, and one is now doing post-doctoral research at Oxford University.

For further details of research projects available for PhD students, visit the Ian Wark Research Institute web pages and follow the links to Opportunities; Information for Prospective Students; PhD and Masters Degree Project Opportunities (http://www.iwri.unisa.edu.au/phdprojects.htm).
