Sukhbir is a Lecturer in Sustainable Business at the International Graduate School of Business, UniSA. Sukhbir holds a PhD in Strategic Management (2009). Prior to working at UniSA, Sukhbir has taught at Lincoln University (New Zealand) and at Apeejay Institute of Management (India).

Her research and teaching have a very strong sustainability focus, and are centred on understanding the drivers that can steer business organizations towards sustainability. Her research in this context has twice been awarded the best research award at the Lincoln University's Annual Conference. In 2008, she developed and taught, a new course on, Risk and Uncertainty Analysis for Sustainable Business. She has also worked with the Centre for Accounting, Governance and Sustainability, UniSA.

Sukhbir holds an MBA and also an Honours degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Both these degrees have allowed her to build a rich repertoire of managerial experience, which includes working in multinationals such as Coca-Cola and Ranbaxy (India’s largest pharmaceutical company).

She is currently investigating the role of champions within an organization in driving organizations to be socially and environmentally responsive. The theoretical frameworks that she is particularly interested in include: Resource Based View (and the Natural Resource Based View), Institutional theory, Resource Dependence Theory and Stakeholder Theory.
