I have a Masters Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Genova, Italy (1987).
In the last 20 years I have extensively lived and worked abroad as a journalist, writer and social analyst. I am a member of the Italian Order of Journalists (www.odg.it) and of the Foreign Correspondents Association in Australia (FCA, http://www.foreigncorrespondents.org).
I have written several books in Italian on the impact of globalization and new communication technologies on society, culture and personal identity; among them: "I Nuovi Nomadi" (Castelvecchi 1996), "Uoma. La fine dei sessi" (Mursia, 2000), "Jesus Christ Cyberstar. Heaven can wait no longer" (Edra, 2004; translated into English by Ipoc in 2009).
My first novel, "Fossili" ("Fossils"), was published in Italy by Fazi Editore in 2010. Link: http://www.fazieditore.it/scheda_Libro.aspx?l=1315

An analysis of the lifestyle and attitude to work, career paths, social acceptance and global dynamics of the emerging class of the so called "knowledge workers" and "digital professionals".With literary, philosophical, sociological notations and references on the emergence of the "global nomads".
This volume has been adopted as a reference book in the Social Studies Departments both at La Sapienza University in Rome and at Statale University in Milan and was cited in several university dissertations (e.g. Andrea Pietrarota, "A spasso col mondo. Le telecomunicazioni mobili nella societa' dell'informazione globale. http://www.tesionline.com/intl/references.jsp?idt=708
"I Nuovi Nomadi" was also the object of analysis for several university seminars and theses (e.g. "The Elsewhere Community", within the course "The connected World", held by Prof. Beppe Severgnini, University of Pavia, http://www-1.unipv.it/iuss/safi/tesine02.htm).

("WoMa. The End of Sexes")
ISBN 88-425-2692-4
"Uoma" (or "WoMA", in English) is the symbol of a new social species: a synthesis of Wo-man and Man, but also of human and machine. Mutation has already started: in the XXI century we will be at the same time male and female; natural and artificial; human and robot; terrestrial and space driven. Hybrids will dominate the future. Is it good or bad? Is it right or wrong? Is it unavoidable? This book tries to envision and address the questions and the ethical dilemmas we shall face tomorrow.
"Uoma" has been adopted as a reference book in the Gender Studies and in the Social Studies Departments of several Italian universities and has been cited in several academic papers (e.g. Giovanni Ventimiglia, 2005, "Donna, Uomo o Cyborg?", School of Philosophy, University of Lugano, Switzerland; www.lugano.ch/Musei/...nsf/.../donna%20uomo%20cyborg.pdf ).

ISBN 88-503-2155-4
"Popwar": an analysis of the new dynamics of conflict in the age of the Internet. The book focuses on the ongoing struggle and the forthcoming change in the balance of power between the Establishment (the so-called Co-vernment = Corporation + Government) and the "grassroot movements" and Activism. The re-negotiation of "spaces" and "rights" that has been sparked by the advent of new technologies of communication and their globalizing effect is in particular examined with regard to three main cultural and social aspects:
- The flow of information and content
- The access to communications infrastructures
- The clash between the right to privacy and the need for control requested by the government for security purposes.
This volume has been adopted as a reference book in the Social Studies, Information Technology and Journalism Departments of several Italian universities:

"Jesus Christ Cyberstar" is a fusion of creative and critical approaches, a provocative, heretic pamphlet full of aphorisms, of Biblical and poetic references. It tries to analyse, through the modes of creative writing, the resonances between the emerging values of the Internet realm and the origins of Christianity. 'In the great sea of the web the prophecy "Blessed are the last for they shall be first" is coming true. Not in another life, but in this one. Not in another world but in another dimension.' In June 2005 the State German National Radio (Channel 1) dedicated a whole program to "Jesus Christ Cyberstar". During the program abstracts of the book were read by a professional actor and then discussed by social analists and literary critics.

Fossils is a "scientific and adventure novel" (neither a science fiction novel, nor a science thriller) based in South Africa, where Arianna Dagnino spent four years (1996-2000), during one of the country's most crucial social and political moments: the passage of power from the white Afrikaner regime to the first black Goverment.
It is also an early example of "trascultural novel" (66,000 words, in Italian), set between Johannesburg, Cape Town, the Kalahari Desert (Namibia) and Zanzibar.

Title "The emergence of the Transcultural
Novel in Italy: the hybridisation of cultures in a selection of contemporary
Italian writers"
My thesis will include a creative component (the writing in Italian of a novel that could already be considered "transcultural") and an exegesis.
