About me

Merilyn is a PhD Candidate in the Alliance for Research in Exercise, Nutrition and Activity (ARENA), School of Health Sciences.

She has sixteen years of experience in the health and fitness industry, and has been specializing in aged care for the past three years. She is an Exercise and Sports science Australia (ESSA) Accredited AES since 2012 and accredited AEP since 2015. She is currently an active member on ESSA's Exercise Science Advisory Group (since 2014).

She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement and Health Studies), from the University of South Australia; Bachelor of Health Science (Honours in the discipline of Anatomy and Pathology) from the University of Adelaide; and a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology (Rehabilitation) from Charles Sturt University.

Funded by the ACH Group 'Activity for Wellbeing' scholarship she is looking at the efficacy and feasibility of an affect-regulated, person-centred physical activity intervention in aged-care workers and the effects on physical health and psychological wellbeing. Working with Associate Professor Gaynor Parfitt, Associate Professor Jim Dollman, Professor Roger Eston and ACH Group.
